Peak District Motorhome Road Trip: Villages, Views and Walks: The Peak District is an easy motorhome escape from Doncaster, with grand estates, limestone dales, gritstone edges and attractive towns close together. This guide groups the stops into a route that can be shortened for a weekend or expanded into a week.

Suggested route: Chatsworth → Bakewell → Monsal Head → Castleton and Mam Tor → Stanage Edge → Dovedale. Allow four to seven nights and avoid unnecessary driving on the narrowest lanes.

Bakewell

Monsal Head

Monsal Head overlooks the viaduct and the deep Wye valley, with access to the traffic-free Monsal Trail. Parking fills early and cliff-side paths can be muddy. Use a designated car park and a campsite elsewhere for the night.

Castleton

Stanage Edge

Dovedale

Dovedale's limestone scenery and stepping stones are extremely popular. Water levels can cover the stones and paths may be slippery. Use the National Trust's current access and parking information and never block the narrow approach roads.
