Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why do you require a non-refundable deposit?

We ask for a non-refundable deposit to ensure that our customers are serious about their booking. This deposit helps us avoid last-minute cancellations that take away opportunities from other customers. If you’re committed to having a great holiday, we want to make sure we are fully prepared to give you the best experience. However, if you’re uncertain or not ready to book, please take your time before reserving your motorhome. The deposit secures your booking and confirms your dates, so you can plan with confidence.

2. What is included with the motorhome rental?

Your rental includes:

  • Fully equipped kitchen (fridge, oven, hob, cutlery, and utensils)
  • Bathroom facilities (toilet, shower)
  • Entertainment features (TV)
  • Unlimited mileage and UK/EU breakdown cover
  • Essentials such as a kettle, toaster, and more!

Optional add-ons like bedding and a food hamper are available for an additional fee.

3. What documents do I need to send to rent a motorhome?

We’ll need the following documents dated within 3 months of the trip:

  • A valid driver’s license held for at least 2 years (please bring both parts if applicable)
  • Two forms of ID with your address (such as utility bills dated within 90 days of the trip) to confirm your address.

4. What happens if my plans change?

If you need to change your travel dates, let us know as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate your new dates, but please be aware that the deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel, the deposit will be retained to cover administrative costs and lost opportunities.

5. Can I drive a motorhome on a regular car license?

Yes! All our motorhomes can be driven with a standard UK driving license, provided you’ve held it for at least 2 years. If you have any points on your license, please inform us ahead of time, as additional insurance may be required.

6. Is there a minimum or maximum rental period?

Yes, we have a minimum rental period of 3 days. Longer rentals are welcome, and discounts are available for rentals of 7 days or more.  5% discount for booking 7 days or more and 5% discount for booking more than 5 months in advance.

7. Are pets allowed?

We allow pets in All our motorhomes. Please check availability or let us know if you plan to bring your four legged friend along, and we’ll help match you with the right vehicle.

8. What is the security deposit, and how does it work?

We require a refundable security deposit of £1000. This covers any potential damages or extra cleaning required. As long as the motorhome is returned in good condition, the deposit will be refunded.

9. What is the process for picking up and dropping off the motorhome?

You’ll be given a detailed walkthrough of your motorhome when you collect it, so you feel comfortable and confident driving it. When it’s time to return the vehicle, please ensure it’s clean and that the waste tanks are emptied. .

10. Do I need to empty the chemical toilet and grey water tanks?

Yes, we ask that you return the motorhome with empty chemical toilet and empty grey water tanks. If you’re unable to do so, we will charge £35 to handle it.

11. Is insurance included in the rental price?

Standard insurance is included, but any drivers with 3 or more points on their license or are under the age of 23 may need additional approval by the insurers, so please contact us  ahead of time if this applies to you. For peace of mind, we’ll ensure everything is in order before you hit the road.

12. Who can drive the vehicle?

Insurance can be provided for drivers between the ages of 25 to 79 years who have held a full licence for a minimum period of 2 years. All drivers are subject to approval by our Insurers. Anyone under 25 will need to be referred to the insurers.
All our vehicles are under 3.5 tonnes so they can be driven using a UK standard licence.

13. Can I obtain my own insurance for the vehicle?

No, we supply the insurance to ensure an adequate level of cover is provided.

14. How many seat belts do the vehicles have?

All our motorhomes have seatbelts as follows:

  • 6 berth motorhomes have 6 seatbelts.
  • 5 berth motorhomes have 5 seatbelts.
  • 4 berth motorhomes have 4 seatbelts.
  • 2 Berth have 2 seatbelts.

15. Do you have any automatic vehicles?

Currently not at the moment

16. What time can I collect and return the vehicle?

Collection time is from 8am and return is before 6pm on the return day. However, we can be flexible with timings subject to prior agreement and a small additional cost.

17. Can I leave my car with you?

Yes, you can leave your car on our gated driveway. All vehicles are left at your own risk.

18. Does the motorhome have air conditioning?

Fergie has Habitation Air conditioning. Most of our Motorhomes have cab air conditioning. Please check each one to see the full specifications. 

19. Can I use the electric sockets in the motorhome if not attached to an electricity supply?

No, the plug sockets will only work if you are hooked up to an electricity supply. The motorhome has a leisure battery, which will provide the power for the lights and the water pump if mains electricity is not available. A fully-charged leisure battery can last for up to 48 hours with conservative use.
We always recommend using a site with electric.

20. What appliances work on gas within the motorhome?

  • The gas will run your hob/grill/oven.
  • Fridge. (if not hooked up to an electricity supply)
  • Hot water.
  • Heating.

21. What are the benefits of hooking up to the mains electricity?

  • Plug sockets will be able to be used when hooked up to mains electricity.
  • The fridge can be used whilst on mains electricity, thus reducing the quantity of gas used.
  • The leisure battery will recharge when connected to an electricity supply.
  • Heating and hot water will work when connected to an electricity supply, reducing the quantity of gas used.

22. How do I return my motorhome?

  • All vehicles must be returned to by 6 pm.
  • All vehicles are required to be returned with the same level of fuel as was present at the beginning of the period of hire.
  • All motor homes are required to be returned with an empty toilet cassette and and empty grey water tank, the contents of which are only to be disposed of at approved disposal points.
    Vehicles are expected to be returned in a clean and tidy condition.
  • All floors clean.
  • Refuse removed.
  • Bathroom clean and tidy.
  • Surfaces wiped.
  • Kitchen Itinerary washed and replaced.

23. Do you allow smoking in your vehicles?

By law and for the comfort of our customers, smoking is not permitted in any of our vehicles. We don’t allow vaping either and should be find this, we will charge £150.00 for the Motorhome to be deep valeted.

24. What is the North Coast 500, and why should I add it to my travel list?

The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile scenic route around the northern coast of Scotland, starting and ending in Inverness. It’s often considered one of the world’s best road trips, offering stunning coastal views, historic castles, and unforgettable landscapes.

25. How can I order groceries for my trip, and what items are available?

Ordering groceries is simple! Just let us know in advance what you’d like, and we’ll have everything ready for your arrival. We offer a range of essentials, from bread and milk to special treats like birthday cakes and flowers. Feel free to contact us if you need something extra!

26. Should I take out deposit protection insurance for my motorhome hire?

While it’s not mandatory, we highly recommend it! A deposit protection plan helps safeguard your security deposit in case of accidental damage, meaning you won’t be left with unexpected costs. We suggest using Insure Car Hire for affordable and reliable coverage, giving you extra peace of mind on your journey.

27. Do I need travel insurance for my motorhome trip?

While not required, travel insurance is always advisable to protect you from unexpected issues. A good policy can cover:

  • Trip cancellations or delays
  • Medical emergencies & expenses
  • Lost or stolen belongings
  • Breakdowns or unforeseen disruptions
